Taking place in the historic town of Kells from the 25th to 28th of June 2026, the festival brings together creative writers, thinkers, and speakers for a series of discussions and events that attract audiences from across Ireland and beyond.

This year’s Hinterland Festival promises to be packed with events for all ages. Literary guests include John Banville, Kevin Barry, John Boyne, and Roisín O’Donnell. Hindsight at Hinterland will look at Ireland’s relationship with America and its diaspora, while the Music and Culture events will bring plenty of live performances. There’ll also be lots going on for children.
